NecroGenesis Is Going Digital: Online Client in Development

By popular demand, we’re taking NecroGenesis online.

We’re developing the official NecroGenesis online client: a faithful, fully rules-accurate way to play NG-01: Outbreak on desktop and in the browser. The client mirrors your tabletop experience — from 3 AP / 2 TP refresh at the start of the Survivor Phase to 4 TH refresh in the Zombie Phase — with ZTC-based spawns, Advance → Attack sequencing, and the once-per-Zombie-Phase Quick Escape roll.

What “rules-accurate” means here

  • Turn Flow: Survivor Phase (ready, 3 AP / 2 TP refresh, draw, spend AP on attacks/equips/events/abilities), then Zombie Phase (4 TH refresh, spawn by ZTC, Advance, Attack, resolve effects), then swap roles.
  • Resources: TP includes 1 TP reserve carry-over; TH banks indefinitely, but if >6 TH at end of Zombie Phase, discard 1.
  • Zones: Survivor Zone, Zombie Zone (spawn), Threat Zone (advance/attack).
  • Combat: Weapons use d6 hit rolls when shown (e.g., “🎲 X+”).
  • Quick Escape: Once per Zombie Phase, spend 1 TP, roll d6 vs Escape Difficulty to negate that attack on success.
  • Deck/Build Limits: Survivor Deck (40) with Weapons/Items/Events/Reacts; Zombie Deck (20) with Walkers/Runners/Brutes/Mutants and max 1 Boss Monster; max 1 SCR in Survivor Deck.

Everything above is enforced by the client’s rules engine.

Alpha Feature Set

  • Play Modes: Casual PvP, Private Lobbies, Solo vs AI (Coming Later)
  • Deck Builder: Import/export lists; filters for type (Weapon/Item/Event/React/Zombie), cost, ZTC, set (NG-01).
  • Match UX: Clear prompts for AP/TP/TH, visual Advance → Attack steps, readable combat log, reversible seating, dice-roll overlays for hits and escapes.
  • Platforms: Windows + macOS native; modern-browser web client. Accessibility: scalable text, color-blind palettes, reduced-motion mode.

Roadmap After Alpha

  • Draft & Sealed with NG-01 booster logic.
  • Ranked Ladder with seasonal cosmetic rewards (no gameplay advantage).
  • Replays & Spectator Mode for creators and events.
  • Event Tools for community TOs (pairings, round timer, result reporting).

Parity With Paper

The client is built against the same reference in NG-01: Outbreak, so learning online translates 1:1 to tabletop — no hidden exceptions, no surprises.
